Angels and Angles (Solo Marimba) - This piece was written based on a set-theory formula organized around the Fibonacci sequence (1,1,2,3,5,8,13...)  I used a string of Fibonnaci numbers to assign pitches, rhythmic values, and phrase organization.  The result is a piece of music that hints at the possibility of tonal structure, while never coming to complete rest or resolution.

Dreamscape (Percussion Quartet) - A departure from the usual bombastic percussion writing available for high school ensembles, Dreamscape is a slower, ambient work that relies on an interesting pallet of instrumentation to paint vivid sonic images.  Instrumentation inclues Vibes, Orch. Bells, 4 Timpani, Triangle, 2 Tom-toms, Bass Drum, Lead Steel Pan (substitutions are possible), Mark Tree, Susp. Cymbal, Shaker, Tam-tam.

Genesis (Solo Marimba) - The rhythmic and harmonic texture of the music becomes more involved as this work progresses, providing the performer with a variety of tonal colors to display.

I miss the wind (Solo Piano) - Originally composed in 2004 as incidental music to a play, the piece was never used in the final draft.  It has since been performed as a solo piano work for intermediate/advanced student recitals. The score is very visual, and while it seems technically simple, it requires a sensitivity to the space within and around the tonal material.

Prelude #1 (Flute and Marimba)
- A post-tonal work with some serial elements, this piece employs many extended techniques for the flautist as well as an improvisatory section for both players.

Marimba Quartet No. 1 (Marimba Quartet) - This four movement work performed by four marimbas is an exercise in different harmonic textures that can be accomplished with this wonderful instrument.  All parts can be played with 2 mallets.  This work was premiered at the WSMA District Festival held at Kaukauna High School (Kaukauna, WI) on March 5th, 2011 by my student Nathan Patton and 3 of his classmates from Appleton North High School.
